Thank you for exploring student teaching and internship opportunities with the Wake County Public School System. Our district typically hosts more than 800 student teachers and pre-service students each semester. In addition, the district serves part-time and full-time interns from such programs as audiology, school counseling, school psychology, and speech language pathology. The requirements for part-time interns are the same as those for pre-service students. Full-time interns adhere to the requirements for student teachers.

Triangle Alliance and Student Teacher Agreements
The Wake County Public School System is part of the Triangle Alliance, a 10-school consortium that includes: Campbell University, Duke University, Meredith College, Peace College, North Carolina Central University, North Carolina State University, Saint Augustine’s College, Shaw University, Southeastern College, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The district maintains a standing student teacher agreement with each of these institutions.
Non-alliance institutions and other without have existing agreements must submit written student teaching agreements before seeking WCPSS student teacher/fulltime internship placements. All agreements are subject to the review and approval of the Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources.
