WCPSS before and after-school programs provide a safe, stimulating environment for students whose family situations require student supervision before and/or after the school day. For the 2011-12 school year, students must be five years old on or before August 31 of the current school year to enroll in the program. Most before-school programs begin at 7 a.m. and end when the school day begins. After-school programs begin immediately following dismissal and end at 6 p.m. at each school.
Payments for WCPSS operated before and after school programs are determined by the bell schedule at each individual school site. Fees for the Before-School Program are based on $2.75 per hour and fees for the After-School Program are based on $2.75 per hour. All fees are fixed to the nearest fifteen-minute increment and apply to all children in a family. There is a $15, non-refundable registration fee for before-school programs and a $15, non-refundable registration fee for after-school programs. Payment schedule information is available below.
Student Enrollment Forms, Parent Information Sheets, and Payment Schedules are available at each site where there is a WCPSS Before- and After-School Program. Questions about fees should be directed to the individual school offering the programs.
Before and after school care at some schools is provided by third party vendors, who may offer care either at the school or at off-site locations. Please contact the school directly for information about programs offered by outside agencies.
Inclement Weather
After School Inclement Weather Procedures: If school closes early due to inclement weather, the After School program will close early. For example, if the school closes one hour early, the after school program will close one hour early. The exception to this procedure will be based upon the severity of weather conditions that necessitate the immediate closing of the program. The decision to close early will be decided by the principal of the school.
Before School Inclement Weather Procedures: The Before-School Program will be delayed the same amount of time that the opening of school is delayed. For example, if school is delayed one (1) hour, then the Before-School Program will be delayed one (1) hour.
