This Press Kit is designed to assist members of the news media with their coverage of our school system.

The Wake County Public School System is the largest school system in the state of North Carolina. WCPSS is committed to ensuring academic success for all students while maintaining fiscal responsibility and accountability. By using a variety of educational tools and approaches, the system has achieved high levels of academic success. Such success has made WCPSS one of the top-performing school systems in North Carolina and among the best large urban school districts in the nation.

Office of the Superintendent

Board of Education - The school system is governed by a nine-member Board of Education whose members are elected from nine separate districts in the county and serve staggered four-year terms. The board sets policy, and the superintendent and administrative staff manage the system's day-to-day operation.

Photo/Video Permission Form (Acrobat, 8 KB) Reporters may not videotape, photograph or interview a child on campus during the school day, where the child is recognizable (either by image or name) without permission from the parent or guardian. This is in accordance with federal privacy laws. Schools are provided permission forms to secure parents’ formal written consent.
