FALL 2010

TEACHING IS A YEAR-ROUND TEAM EFFORT

The autumn season is an exciting time of year marked by pumpkin carvings and Thanksgiving turkey. As fall begins, not only do the days become shorter and the weather starts to change, but the seasonal highlights can make it easy for students to lose focus during this time of year. However, by now the school year is in full swing for our students. They continue to be engaged in classroom learning, participate in after-school activities and strengthen their relationships with teachers and friends.

With the beginning of the school year behind them, it is important for students to stay energized and keep this momentum going all throughout the school year. You can make a difference!

There are many ways for you to get involved in your child's educational experiences. Even if you did not start this school year off as well as you would have liked, remember, it's never too late to create habits that will ensure your child is learning to the best of his or her ability.

Ask Yourself...
Am I consistently setting a bedtime that allows my child to get at least nine hours of sleep?
Do I routinely review report cards and help to set goals for doing better?
Am I allowing time each day to hear about what is happening at school?
Do I expect my child to go to school every day and be on time?

If you answered YES to these questions, then you are moving in the right direction! By teaching and reinforcing the skills your child needs and enhancing those taught in the classroom, you can help build a strong home-school partnership that supports learning.
