Description

Adams Elementary operates on the year-round calendar. Students at the year-round schools are divided into four groups, called tracks, with each track having its own calendar. In a year-round elementary school, the traditional 180-day school year is divided into nine-week quarters with a three week break at the end of each quarter. Students are in school the same number of days as their counterparts in traditional schools; the days are simply redistributed thoughout the year. The reorganized schedule is called a 45/15 - 45 days in school, 15 days off.

Year-round schools provide a continuous learning process. Since students do not have long summer vacations, major reviewing in the fall is eliminated. Students and teachers are energized throughout the year due to regular breaks. The three-week breaks provide frequent enrichment and remedial opportunities for students during the year.

Adams Elementary is a dynamic learning environment where the focus is on student growth. Teachers engage students from where they are, enriching and intervening on essential learning objectives, starting in kindergarten and continuing until they leave in 5th grade. It is critical that each student grows to their fullest potential. Teachers engage students in a wide range of learning tasks focusing on an integration of curriculum and 21st century skills. Adams Elementary provides a solid foundation for all learners so they transition to middle school and have a successful middle school experience.

The primary strength of Adams Elementary is the outstanding staff members. From day one of Kindergarten students are held to the highest of expectations in all areas (academic learning, positive behavior, work habits, etc) in order to continue the growth started at home and in preschool. Students are supported to achieve their very best. Teachers are leaders that share a joint responsibility with administration to make school wide decisions that meet the needs of our school community. A dynamic staff coupled with active and engaged parents will lead to success for all students. There is no obstacle that cannot be overcome working together.
