Description

Fox Road Elementary is a traditional calendar school located in North Raleigh between Capital Boulevard and Louisburg Road/Highway 401, about a mile from the Triangle Town Center mall. Our families hail from more than 50 different countries and speak about 35 different native languages. Fox Road Elementary School is Where the world comes together.

Our culturally diverse student body makes Fox Road a global school community. We have a strong focus on academic growth for all students and on fostering and sustaining a culture of learners and learning. To these ends, our students have made expected or high growth about 95% of the time during which this measure has been used by North Carolina (since 1997). Their test scores show steady increases in proficiency since the last re-norming of the EOGs. Growth for our seven student sub-groups out-performs that of the Wake County Public School System’s average for the past three years. In addition, the cohort of students that progress through Fox Road from third to fifth grade typically makes substantially more progress than that of the WCPSS average in both reading and math.

Our faculty and staff use schoolwide Positive Behavior Intervention Support expectations to teach and reinforce the same behavioral expectations that are expected of our global, often wall-less, society. Fox Road students demonstrate that they are SWIFT. They: Stay safe; Work like it matters; Interact peacefully; Focus on responsibility; and Treat others with respect. Each homeroom begins its day with a Morning Meeting, intended to build community, responsibility, and respect. We work to ensure that our students are prepared for the world ahead of them, academically, socially, and ethically.

Fox Road’s faculty is composed of 6 National Board Certified members including classroom teachers, our PE specialist, our Media Specialist, and one of our School Counselors. 42% of our faculty has graduate degrees. All Fox Road Teacher Assistants are Highly Qualified, and the majority of them have a Bachelor of Science degree.

Fox Road teachers and teacher assistants go above and beyond on behalf of our students. They provide extracurricular activities that currently include: Math Olympiad, FRES News Crew, Energy Club, Art Club, Recorder Club, Strings, Chorus, Step Team, Ladies of Excellence, and Helping Hands. In addition, our Media Specialist offers a Literacy Dog program with the support of local trained dogs and their owners.

At Fox Road we work diligently to maintain our Schoolwide foci on: Growth for each student; Differentiation to meet the diverse needs of our students; Thinking; and, building Community. Fox is THE road to success!
