    Description

Jeffreys Grove Elementary is a small school in a highly engaged and supportive community. The faculty and staff are committed to the pursuit of excellence and take pride in creating a warm, inviting, and safe learning environment for all of our students. Each student’s needs are individually met through a variety of learning opportunities.

The faculty at JGES is highly qualified and actively collaborates with one another in their commitment to continuous improvement. Of equal importance, being a small school allows our faculty and staff to develop strong relationships with our students and their families. Parents and community members are actively engaged in our school and play a vital role in the success of our school. We welcome and encourage all parents to become involved in their child’s education by joining our PTA and by volunteering.

Jeffreys Grove Elementary is a member of the NC Global Schools Network. As a global school, we strive to infuse global connections, activities, and projects into the curriculum in as many creative and exciting ways as possible. Students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade also study the Spanish language.

Utilizing 21st century skills, we work to develop our students as global citizens capable of situating themselves in a smaller world. Students learn to communicate, compete and collaborate through their studies of world cultures, traditions, and languages. They develop cultural self-awareness, and perspective taking. Service projects are a regular part of each child’s learning as our students are taught to think globally and act locally.

We invite you to visit our website and tour our school. At Jeffreys Grove, our eagles soar!

    Curriculum: Global Schools Collaborative Network

To be globally competitive, students must understand that activities or decisions made in one part of the world can affect the environments, economies, and people in other parts of the world. This understanding is central to global studies.

The WCPSS Global Schools Network will be a group of 17 schools dedicated to challenging students to become globally aware citizens. Study of the world's cultures, religions, literature, history and language will prepare students to confront global issues.

The schools in this network teach international content across the curriculum and at all levels to expand students' knowledge of other countries and cultures. Through a partnership with VIF International Education, a teacher exchange program will recruit visiting teachers from places as far as South Africa, Spain and China to teach your child.

    Each school will provide:

    • Foreign language instruction

    • Integrated global lessons

    • Visiting Foreign Exchange Faculty

    • iPad carts (30 iPads) for each grade level

One middle and one high school will be added to this network in May 2011.
