    Description

Kingswood Elementary School is a nationally recognized Title I School of Distinction in the heart of Cary . Our school has an ethnically diverse population of students speaking fifteen different languages. We pride ourselves on a low student to teacher ratio that allows for individual attention and intervention to students in core subjects. Student success is at the heart of every decision made at Kingswood.
Committed to the Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) philosophy, we have been a NC Exemplar School for PBIS for the past two years and serve as a model for schools initiating PBIS. Positive behavior is our focus! Our culture promotes students’ understanding of the expectations and allows for modeling and practicing these expectations. The staff uses common language to address expectations across all grade levels and students’ knowledge of these expectations grows each year.
The community and family involvement at Kingwood enhances our student success. Parents and volunteers mentor and tutor students, assist with before and after school clubs, and participate in Family Fun Nights (Science, Math, Literacy and Spring Fling). Students are given the opportunity to participate in before and afterschool clubs offered which include Chess, Robotics, Science Olympiad, Photography, Music Matters, and Running clubs.
Technology is integrated into each subject area. Students actively engage in Smart Board activities, research using class sets of laptops, flip cameras for presentations, and Individual Response Systems for whole class responses. K-5 quarterly projects challenge students to integrate Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math knowledge and application in order to solve real world problems as they prepare for their place in the 21st century.

    Curriculum: Traditional

Traditional curriculum schools offer students high quality instruction, opportunities for advanced studies, creative exploration and extra-curricular activities in a nurturing educational setting. Some of the highest-performing schools in Wake County are traditional curriculum schools.
