    Description

Laurel Park is a growing multi-track year round elementary school located between Cary and Apex. We are focused on providing challenging and meaningful learning experiences so that our students thrive in a culture of excellence. We do this by cultivating student abilities in the classroom through positive relationships that encourage young children to ask questions, to apply their learning through hands-on investigations, and to understand and also take responsibility for the choices they make.

The quality of each student's learning at Laurel Park is enhanced by the special resources available within the school. For example, we have an outstanding fine arts program that builds student skills with performance in visual arts and music. Every student attends classes in technology as well as Spanish as a part of their program of studies. We boast a library media collection with over 20,000 volumes in addition to subscriptions to current multimedia resources. We also have a physical education program that integrates a PTA sponsored School Garden with lessons to encourage students to make healthy choices for an active lifestyle.

Nurturing your child through their journey of building foundational academic and social skills is what we try to do every day. Our teachers collaborate with each other regularly to plan lessons, monitor student learning, and to use data about student progress to guide their instruction. We are committed to providing every child with a safe and supportive environment so they can do their best work. The active support of parents who volunteer in the classroom and participate in the school PTA is a significant asset for our school. Each year the PTA sponsors numerous different student clubs, special events, and cultural arts activities that compliment our school's instructional program. As part of these efforts, the PTA organizes family friendly events each month. These events help build a sense of community and provide opportunities for families to make a direct impact reinforcing student learning throughout the year.
