Description

Lead Mine Elementary is a small family centered school on a beautiful wooded lot in North Raleigh. It has maintained a tradition of excellence and stability since its doors opened in 1990. The school has been a model for showing that diversity and high achievement are compatible. Any child who walks through the door is going to find a dedicated, committed staff to insure that he or she will learn. Our tradition of high performance for all students has earned us the distinction of being named as a Regional Choice school in the new district assignment plan. We had to be one of the top schools in the district in a number of different categories to be so honored.

Academic excellence is just one of the things for which we are known. When people talk about Lead Mine you hear the same words coming up time and again: family oriented, friendly, calm, welcoming, fun, caring. Our small size of about 500 students gives us the opportunity to know our students and parents on a personal level. We could not do what we do without tremendous parent support. Students who come to Lead Mine know they going to have to meet high expectations in an atmosphere where staff members genuinely care about them as people and learners. They will have access to the latest technology to help them acquire the skills they will need to be successful in a global society. We build the foundation they need to be successful in their next stage of life.
