Description

Poe Montessori is Wake County Public School Systems only Montessori Magnet, currently serving students pre-k through 5th grade.

The program is based on a child's developmental need for freedom within limits. Instructional techniques, in a carefully prepared environment, provide learning experiences designed to develop not only the intelligence of each child but also the child's physical and social skills.

Students learn the NC Standard Course of Study through the Montessori philosophy which includes a balance of large group, small group and individual instruction paired with learning techniques that address the individual needs of the child. Teachers address the individual needs of students using best practices, technology and a variety of instructional materials including multi-sensory, sequential, hands-on materials.
