Description

Reedy Creek Elementary promotes a well-balanced relationship among students, parents, staff, and community. All students are actively engaged in a wide variety of educational experiences including hands-on learning, technology-based learning and cooperative learning. Students are encouraged to assume leadership roles within the school and to take risk within their learning environment by participating in extra-curricular activities geared towards academics, the arts, athletics, and community service. Using self-evaluation students set high expectations for themselves as noted during student-led conferences and celebrations of success.

Parents form an active partnership by volunteering throughout the school including, but not limited to, chaperones, lunch bunch readers, tutors, and support for all staff members. Parent education sessions, PTA sponsored events, and special celebrations occur regularly to foster a strong since of community between home and school.

Additionally, administrators are visible, supportive, and openly communicate with parents, students and staff. Furthermore, teachers make it a priority to build meaningful relationships with students beyond their own classrooms, enhancing the learning environment and positive climate of the school. Lastly, the community is heavily involved in our school in numerous ways. Local high schools and colleges serve as partners, assisting with academic support. Local civic organizations, businesses and faith-based groups provide necessary resources to support families and academic programs through donations, monetory support, and participation in school programs. All of which has led to high academic growth among each subgroup represented within the school.

Traditional curriculum schools offer students high quality instruction, opportunities for advanced studies, creative exploration and extra-curricular activities in a nurturing educational setting. Some of the highest-performing schools in Wake County are traditional curriculum schools.
