Description

Smith Magnet Elementary School is an International Baccalaureate - Primary Years Programme candidate, pursuing IBO authorization for the spring of 2012. At Smith Magnet, we pride ourselves in our focus on relationship-building with our families and community stakeholders, while holding the highest expectations for ourselves and our students in delivering 21st Century instructional best practices. Here our students are the center of their inquiry-based learning. They are are active participants in their global classrooms, their reflective work portfolios, and their grade level Units of Inquiry that make relevant and authentic the North Carolina Standard Course of Study.

Operating in a newly-renovated and technology-rich facility, Smith Magnet Elementary is a nurturing school environment that balances its rich community history with a focused direction on the International Baccalaureate’s curriculum framework and internationally-minded approach to 21st Century student learning. As a member of the Garner Area IB-School Pathway, the Smith Magnet staff collaborate tightly with both East Garner Magnet Middle and Garner Magnet High to provide a pre-K-12th grade IB educational journey of learning.
